The Exchange Club of the San Ramon Valley announced the winners of the 9-11 student essay competition at a ceremony held at the San Ramon City Council meeting on October 26, 2010. Carol Rowley, San Ramon Vice-Mayor, officiated in the ceremony. Shown above are the competition winners along with members of the Exchange Club. From left to right: Judy Lloyd-Exchange Club, Trevor Carter, Mimi Evans, Kyle Harmon, Carmen Zheng, Frank Nguyen and Karen Stepper-Exchange Club President. Applicants were asked to compare the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 with Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. We want to express our appreciation to the students and families who attended the award presentation this past Tuesday. We know that many teachers and families encouraged the students to appreciate a time in history that they could not appreciate 9 years ago, and of course had not experienced the attack on Pearl Harbor. Special thanks is also extended to our wonderful sponsors: Tom Guarino of PG&E, Ken Mintz of AT&T, Steve Moore of Pacific Rim Recycling, and Uri Eliahu of Engeo.
